It was great to give Wellbeing-informed Practice its first academic exposure at the Development Studies Association Conference in Bath last week! With Allister McGregor we convened a two session panel looking at the legacy of our first wellbeing project, 2002-7: Wellbeing in Developing Countries(WeD). Some papers were pure research, others were addressed to politics, policy and/or practice. They ranged across continents (India, Indonesia, UK, Hong Kong, Chile) and focus (climate change, fisheries, flood-risk communities, schools, social care, inclusive development, community projects, and church community mobilization). All together the papers were extremely rich and generated lively discussion. It was especially good to see a stress on the relational dimensions of wellbeing, and to see how relational wellbeing itself is being interpreted and applied in a range of different contexts. It was also an experience of relational wellbeing having the chance to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones!
